Lessons are held either on her beautiful 6'6" John Broadwood grand piano or on her lovely Knight upright which is a little less daunting for her younger students, but they are all encouraged to learn on the grand. Cara normally teaches classical piano but other modern or jazz styles can be incorporated. |
For a student to succeed, they need a piano at home to practise on. Whilst it needn't be a wonderful instrument, it does need to be in sound condition and in tune, preferably at the correct standard pitch. Pianos need to be tuned at least once a year to maintain them in tune. If you are buying a piano, do seek advice first, as many older instruments cannot be successfully tuned or made to play adequately.
Whilst an electronic keyboard is not suitable a digital electonic piano is acceptable, although a real, acoustic piano is the preferred instrument.
