Examinations
Cara is a skilled and experience piano and music theory teacher. She lives in Napier.
Whilst exams are not the be all and end all, Cara encourages her students to sit for Trinity College London piano or A.B.R.S.M. piano and A.B.R.S.M. theory examinations. The exam syllabus is a well thought out and balanced route, designed to encourage steady progress and develop the necessary skills.
An examination provides a target and deadline which tends to focus the mind. Sitting for exams is not for everybody though, so Cara does not insist on pupils taking this route. Learning to play can be just for pleasure.
During Cara's entire teaching career the examination results that her pupils have achieved has been outstanding with 99.9% pass rate (in fact only two out of the many hundreds of her pupils did not pass) and the majority passed with distinctions and merits.
Many of Cara's pupils have won Examiners' Choice Awards and Highest Marks in New Zealand Awards.
One 15 year old grade 8 pupil achieved the second highest marks in the world, winning her a Trinity College Scholarship.
